When I finished the first Albertina book, I didn't feel through with Albertina and Molly, and when Mona showed up in my imagination, I was delighted to meet her (and her terrible mother). My children, like poor Mona, took tofu to school and had to explain it (and me)to their friends, and I'm still being razzed about it today.
The dog Duke in this book is a lot my old, crazy dog Duke, and my daughter's cat Sam really was "the friendliest cat in town," though I'm not sure we really ever convinced my husband of that.
